PPI is a planning metric, not a guarantee of sharpness or printer quality.

PNG export contains selected pixels only. Margins are excluded; your target PPI is not embedded.

How it works

The selected print width and height define the crop ratio. Use a preset such as square, 4:5, 3:2 or 16:9, or enter your own dimensions. Horizontal and vertical sliders move the crop within the source bounds; one slider may have no effect when the crop already spans that axis. Load your photo or use the built-in geometric demo. The preview is scaled for the screen, while PNG export uses the selected source pixels without intentional upscaling. Fractional crop dimensions are rounded down to whole output pixels.

Example

A landscape 4000 × 3000 image needs a 2400 × 3000 region for a portrait 4:5 crop. Move the horizontal slider to choose which side remains. Export includes the selected image pixels only: print margins, mat and frame are excluded, and your target PPI is not embedded. Fit-entire-image exports the whole source instead of adding a white print canvas. Inputs are limited to 20 MB and 40 megapixels; exports are limited to 20 megapixels to reduce browser memory use.

Assumptions and limitations

No. Image decoding, preview and export happen in your browser. Only numeric settings are saved locally. Reloading removes loaded photos; use the demo to try the image workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Are photos uploaded or saved?

No. Image decoding, preview and export happen in your browser. Only numeric settings are saved locally. Reloading removes loaded photos; use the demo to try the image workflow.

Does a 300 PPI result guarantee a sharp print?

No. Focus, source quality, viewing distance, paper and the printing process also matter. Choose a target appropriate to your intended output.

Are centimetres and inches interchangeable here?

Yes. Settings are stored in millimetres and converted for display. Changing units preserves the same physical sizes.
