How it works
Start with the physical print dimensions. Mat outer width equals print width plus twice the mat border; height follows the same rule. Add twice the moulding width to obtain the idealized outer-frame dimensions. The model assumes equal borders, no overlap allowance and a flat, rectangular arrangement. Real frames have rebates and mat openings often overlap a print slightly; confirm the actual opening, outer dimensions and construction with your supplier. The preview illustrates proportions rather than manufacturing details.
Example
An 8 × 10 inch print is 203.2 × 254 mm. A 50 mm border gives a 303.2 × 354 mm mat. Adding 20 mm moulding on each side gives a 343.2 × 394 mm outer frame. Save those settings, open the wall planner and use the calculated frame size. This transfers physical outer dimensions, not the print dimensions alone, so the wall layout includes the frame footprint.

Frequently asked questions
Are photos uploaded or saved?
No. Image decoding, preview and export happen in your browser. Only numeric settings are saved locally. Reloading removes loaded photos; use the demo to try the image workflow.
Does a 300 PPI result guarantee a sharp print?
No. Focus, source quality, viewing distance, paper and the printing process also matter. Choose a target appropriate to your intended output.
Are centimetres and inches interchangeable here?
Yes. Settings are stored in millimetres and converted for display. Changing units preserves the same physical sizes.
